None of us want to give up our computers, Tv's, refrigerators, gadgets and all the other electrical things around the house together with the lights! This could happen though if we can no longer create electricity in accepted ways -- burning fossil fuels. Just take a look at our soaring vigor bills if you want to see what the future holds for us and our machine nirvana. Enough with the doom and gloom though, there could be a way of holding all these things without intelligent fossil fuels and without destroying the planet. Some will whoop and cheer and others will roll their eyes and groan when I use the word "renewables" but bare with me!

I want to talk about micro-generation. Every building generates at least a measure of it's vigor needs it's self, off grid. Now a 3kW domestic wind turbine seems like a grain of sand on the lowest of the ocean, which on it's own it is, but that's not what micro-generation is all about. You see, if most buildings could output 3kW of electricity through whatever means suited it's position best it would make a truly heavy difference. Let me give you a rough example. Here in the Uk the median household size was 2.36 habitancy (I just hope I never meet the.36 of a man in a dark alleyway!) in 2001 government figures and the habitancy is around 65 million. So that's almost 27,542,372 households. Each generating 3kW gives 82.63Mw or nearly 10% of a 1000Mw coal fired power station. Again this may seem pretty insignificant but apart from needing to start somewhere this doesn't take inventory of all the industrial properties and each building could de facto create more than 3kW. When you add that to the advantage of using solar water heating the whole of gas and electricity for this purpose can be dramatically reduced foremost to supplementary vigor savings.

Don't get me wrong, high density power generation will all the time be required but micro-generation can be a big part in the vigor jig-saw. With new green technologies being advanced all the time on both sides of the equation (more vigor sufficient devices and power generation) renewables are very viable and valuable to our survival. Some of these intelligent new technologies include road surfaces that create power from the sun -- just think of all the billions of kilometres of roads throughout the world - flexible solar cells that could be fitted to the roofs of galvanic trains, wave and tidal power, geo-thermal, bio-mass and many more. building your own green vigor generation capacity is easy to do as well, it's not the support of the Diy fanatic, any man of median skill can make something perfectly serviceable, you might be surprised to learn quite how easy it is.
Green is good for habitancy and green is also good for business, think about it and take a look to see what you can do in your home or office today. You may be able to play your part in meeting Al Gore's challenge to create huge green power within 10 years.
