You may not be the best carpenter in town, but following the tips below, your coat rack will be the most unique, priceless and incomparable. Here, I suggest a 16-inch horizontal coat rack with 5 coat racks.
(i) You should sketch on a paper the design of your coat rack with its specific measurements. You should also identify and get ready the materials and equipments needed. The materials needed are 1-by-16 inch piece of wood, 5 coat hooks, 1 sand paper, 7 screws, 2 studs and varnish. The equipments are pencil, varnish brush, drill and screwdriver.

(ii) Divide the distance of the wood evenly by the 5 hooks with 0.5 inch on the left and right corner. Each hook is suggested to have 3 inch apart. On each 0.5 inch corner, you should also mark a spot (on same horizontal line to each other) for holes for screws later. Then, mark each spot using pencil.
(iii) Drill mounting holes on the 7 pencil spots.
(iv) Lacquered the wood and the hooks (if made of wood) with varnish and let it to dry. If you prefer a shinier and glossier look, you may give it an added coat of varnish.
(v) Place one hook on a hole and attach it to the wood using a screw and a screwdriver. Repeat this step for the remaining hooks. You must do this thought about so that the wood is not scarred.
(vi) Then, your coat rack is well-built but in order to use it you must put the rack on the wall.
(vii) Before you put the rack onto the wall, you must first settle the area. Then, by holding the rack against the wall on the desired area, use the pencil to color or mark the holes of each 0.5 inch corners onto the wall.
(viii) Next, drill through the front wall on the marked spots and place a stud in each hole. Place the coat rack onto the wall and make sure the studs and the two holes on each 0.5 inch projection are overlapping before you attach them with the screws.
(ix) Finally, you can start to hang your coats on it!
If you are a creative person, you may also paint your favourite cartoon characters or flower pattern on the wood rather than using the varnish as I have.
