Lighten Up! Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously

Lighten up a little!

Don't take yourself too seriously

Do It Yourself

Though your work may be

Reason to fret and flail

As for you, let your soul sail

Spread your wings and fly

There doesn't need to be

A single reckon as to why

Neither when, why, or how

Just love yourself and take a bow

Wipe the scowl off of your brow

Stop abusing and beating yourself up

Excessive stress and anxiety

Will make you ill and throw up

Manage your emotions

Keep things in perspective

Stress and tension my dear

Is not mandatory, but an elective

That being said, you can rejoice

Have a laugh, soften your voice

Slow down the frantic pace

By which you scurry and race

Before your hair catches on fire

And you cause many more flames

Peace, joy, and sweet merriment

One should never proudly disdain

That is unless you like to share pain

Most any way want nothing of it

You therefore must rise above it

Lest you transmit and retell it

To others less desirous and worthy

Than your important bitter self

Put self-pity and anger my dear

Far away, up on the shelf

Than objectively look at it

See it for what it truly is

Less it overwhelm and kill you

Take you down with a heartbeat

Stop you dead cold in your tracks

Before you ever think to complete

Your work, for which you toil

Take a break and refuse to spoil

Thyself with thy labor of love

Take a occasion to recognize

Your inventor and God above

Life is too sweet to take the backseat

To anger, irritation, and anxiety

Arise with joy and show charity

Try to live less seriously

Struggle less furiously

See yourself humorously

For this is how you are to me

My dear I'm not alone you see

Before all your work to become

Why not celebrate and happily be?

Lighten Up! Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously
